Thomas “Tom” Taber
Owner of the Taber Inne & Suites
Thomas “Tom” Taber is a lifelong Mystic resident and owner of The Taber Inne & Suites. The son of Margaret “Maggie” Taber, a native of Leitrim, Ireland, Tom grew up at the inn after his mother established the business in 1971. Located in the heart of downtown Mystic, The Taber Inne has been a part of Tom’s life from the very beginning. While helping to run the family business, he earned his degree in Accounting from Bryant University and has continued to build upon the welcoming atmosphere and family traditions that have defined the inn for more than five decades.
Tom and his wife, Geraldine, a native of Cork, Ireland, maintain strong ties to their Irish heritage and travel to Ireland several times each year to visit family and friends. Together, they have raised three children: Dr. Caroline Taber, an orthopedic surgeon affiliated with Harvard teaching hospitals; Thomas Taber Jr., who is pursuing his Juris Doctor at Penn State Dickinson Law; and Fiona Taber, a recent Bentley University graduate working as a paralegal in Boston.
Deeply involved in the Mystic community, Tom has served as Vice President of the Mystic Irish Parade Foundation for more than 25 years and has dedicated countless hours to local youth sports. He coached each of his children’s teams growing up and served as President of both the Groton Mystic Soccer Club and Mystic Little League.
Today, Tom continues to lead The Taber Inne & Suites with the same values that have guided him throughout his life – family, community, and genuine hospitality – helping make the inn a welcoming destination for visitors from around the world.
