Hours & Admission

• What are the Mystic Seaport Museum hours?
  • Hours vary seasonally. Typical hours are:
  • Early January until late March parts of the museum are open daily 10 am – 4 pm. Ticket prices are usually reduced during this time period.
  • From late March until early November the full museum is open daily from 10 am – 5 pm.
  • Early November until late December the full museum is open Thursday-Sunday from 10 am – 4 pm.
  • The museum is closed certain holidays including Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Week.
  • Watercraft activities are available on weekends only during the spring and fall. Watercraft activities are available daily in the high summer season.

• How much does it cost to go to the Mystic Seaport Museum?
  • Tickets for adults are $35, for seniors (ages 65+) are $33, and for children (ages 4-17) are $25.
  • Ticket prices are reduced from early January until late March.
  • Special events, activities, and other fees are ticketed separately.

• Is there any way to get free admission to the Mystic Seaport Museum?
  • Yes!
  • Children three and under are always free.
  • Visit on your birthday and your admission is free.
  • Active military dressed in uniform receive free admission.
  • SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program)/EBT (Electronic Benefits Transfer) recipients receive free admission for up to 2 adults and 4 children/youth per SNAP/EBT card.
  • All members of the Mashantucket and Eastern Pequot Tribal Nations are offered free admission during regular business hours as part of the museum’s living land acknowledgment. Tribal Members need only show their Tribal IDs.
  • Guests on personal boats docked at the Mystic Seaport Museum Marina receive complimentary admission.

• Are there any discounts for admission to the Mystic Seaport Museum?
  • Yes!
  • Purchase a two-day admission for only $10 more than the original ticket price.
  • Register for a free CT Season Pass to receive $3 off general admission.
  • Active military, retired military, or merchant mariners in casual attire with proper ID receive $5 off admission for themselves and each person in their group.
  • Special needs visitors and one adult attending to the special needs visitor receive a 50% discount on admission and a validation form that may be redeemed for a repeat visit within 7 operational days.
  • Admission for students with a valid college ID is $23.

Getting There

• How do I get there?
  • The address for the Mystic Seaport Museum is 75 Greenmanville Ave, Mystic, CT 06355.
  • The Museum has two entrances. The North Entrance (open year-round) is through the Thompson Exhibition Building adjacent to the Delamar Mystic Hotel. This entrance opens onto the McGraw Gallery Quadrangle. The South Entrance (closed in the winter months) is through the Sanger Visitor Reception Center at the Kingston II Tugboat. This entrance opens onto the Village Green near the Sabino dock and the Shipyard.

• Is there parking at the Mystic Seaport Museum?
  • Parking is free for Museum visitors in the large lots across the street from each entrance.

• Can I get to the Mystic Seaport Museum via boat?
  • The Mystic Seaport Express is a river shuttle from downtown Mystic to the Museum.
  • The Mystic Seaport Museum Marina offers well-protected docks for personal boats.

What to See & Do

• What boats can I see at the Mystic Seaport Museum?
  • Visitors can board four national historic landmark vessels: the 1841 whaleship, Charles W. Morgan; the 1866 Noank smack, Emma C. Berry; the 1908 steamboat Sabino; and the 1921 fishing schooner, L. A. Dunton.
  • There are at least 15 other boats for visitors to view while at the museum.
  • The Shipyard Gallery takes visitors behind the scenes of the Henry B. du Pont Preservation Shipyard into the work we do restoring and preserving historic vessels.

• Can I get on a boat cruise at the Mystic Seaport Museum?
  • Yes! The boating season at the museum starts in May each year.
  • Choose a rowboat, sailboat, or pedal boat to explore the Mystic River on your own.
  • Hop on a public cruise on upriver or downriver on the National Historic Landmark vessel Sabino or enjoy a sail aboard the Breck Marshall.

• What is the Historic Seaport Village?
  • The village is a re-created seaport village that lets visitors immerse themselves in the life of a 19th-century coastal New Englander.
  • Buildings in the village include: a school, a clam shack, a general store, and a chapel.

• Does the Mystic Seaport Museum host any special events?
  • Yes! There are various events and festivals throughout the year. Popular events include: Pirate Days in April and Sea Glass Festival in July.

  • The Treworgy Planetarium has been a center for science education, inspiring visitors to draw connections between our maritime history and the world and skies around us.
  • Permanent and special exhibits cover topics such as whaling, maritime history, shipbuilding, and lighthouses.
